missing home.....

I'm missing home, especially in the midst of examination period. Dunno why i feel like going back eagerly this year. However, my last exam date is fixed on 22/06, while my air ticket is confirmed on 21/06. Therefore, i'm still queuing for the very long waiting list for 24/06 now. Really hope to get the seat and fly back home earlier. I wanna spend more time with my family because i'm going to do my attachment in Miri hospital for 3 weeks in July.

i miss the couch at home, the delicious food and the beautiful scenery in kk, not to forget my family, relatives and friends back home!

miss the couch back home....

miss the see through bathroom door back home......

miss my beloved family back home.....

miss my buddies back home.....

I miss everything back in kk.......
Can't wait to be back home, but have to endure this stressful exam period first.

I'll be back soon!!!! ;)

flu...

My nose is blocked! My taste and olfactory sensation have been decreased. Food is not tempting to me anymore. Besides that, tissues have been my best friend since last friday, can't even sleep without having them beside me!

I dunno what happened to me, wondering is it flu or allergy. Anyway, i took 1000mg of Vit C consecutively for 2 days already. Hope i can get better when i'm awake tomorrow.

I wanna breathe through my nose and sleep soundly without tilting up my head! God, heal my running nose... :)

A sunny day...

I settled my epi final today. Thank God.

The weather was very good today. It was a bright sunny day with 24 degree celsius. Today was my first time went out not wearing a jacket. My skin was finally exposed under the sun after 8 months!
After having my late lunch in Patio Pasta n Pizza House with MS, we went shopping in European Shopping Mall, Kievskaya.

After all, i bought this!

A set of facial wash, moisturizer and night cream from Body Shop.
These are my first ever facial set in my 24 years of life! Tell you the truth, i've never ever washed my face with facial wash before. All i used was just soap and water. XD

As i'm getting old, i've decided to start using a proper facial wash. Hope this set of facial wash and creams suits me!

Epidemiology....

It is 2 o'clock early in the morning now.
I'm still struggling with the subject of epidemiology, preparing for the epidemiology final 11 hours later.
Time just flew away so fast, even faster than a blink of eye!
I haven't even started to revise for 2nd time, and a brand new day is coming soon. :(
I really need a great faith for it! Of course a good examination card that i can answer too. :P
ish.... it's time to dwell into cohort studies, case-control studies....... again!
There will be a PANDA strolling on the streets of Moscow tomorrow!

Resuscitation!

Our group had an interesting class today. We went to practical class for reanimation at Nahimovski prospekt, a building connected to our library.

First of all, we watched a video, showing us the steps doing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) on unconscious person in proper way. The instructions were given clearly doing on mannequin.

Here are the steps of doing CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation):

1) Call
Check the victim for consciousness. If there is no response, Call ambulance and return to the victim.

After the call, start the 3 steps, ABC (Airway, Breathing, and Circulation).

2) Airway
Extend the neck by tilting the head and lifting the chin. Clear the airway. Make sure there's nothing obstructing the airway.

3) Breathing
Assess for the presence of respiration. If no spontaneous breathing, give 2 breaths mouth-to-mouth.

4) Circulation
Palpate for carotid pulse by putting your index and middle fingers in the groove between trachea and muscle. If pulse is not present, deliver 30 compressions on the chest 1.5 to 2 inches right between the nipples at a rate of 100/min, faster than once per second. 30:2 ratio for all victims except newborns, 15:2.

If there are 2 rescuers present, then it is advised to alternate every 2 minutes or every 2 cycles of compression.

Remember that prior to starting CPR, it is advised to call ambulance and to get an AED (automated external defibrillator) if easily available. A rapid response is crucial as brain death starts to occur about 5 minutes after cardiac arrest if CPR and defibrillation are not provided. The chance of survival in general falls about 10% for every minute of delay in CPR.

After finished the video, we went on to simulate blood-taking from arm models, which were connected to a "blood bag" via a tube. We managed to draw "blood" if we did it correctly. It was indeed an interesting procedure, by applying tourniquet, swapping the cotton wool, and drawing "blood". However, it was quite different in doing on real patients. We couldn't hear the popping sound when we poked the vein instead of the plastic tube. Moreover, we got tension in doing on the real patient.

After that, we proceed to do CPR that we had just learned from the video on mannequins. The mannequins were attached to devices that would blink in green light if we did correctly while in red light vice versa. We tried on infant, kid, and adult mannequins respectively.

At last, we learned the procedure of doing endotracheal intubation on mannequin.

Endotracheal intubation is the placement of a tube into the trachea (windpipe) in order to maintain an open airway in patients who are unconscious or unable to breathe on their own. Oxygen, anesthetics, or other gaseous medications can be delivered through the tube.

To begin the procedure, open the patient's mouth by separating the lips and pulling on the upper jaw with the index finger. Holding a laryngoscope in the left hand, he or she inserts it into the mouth of the patient with the blade directed to the right tonsil. Once the right tonsil is reached, the laryngoscope is swept to the midline, keeping the tongue on the left to bring the epiglottis into view. The laryngoscope blade is then advanced until it reaches the angle between the base of the tongue and the epiglottis. Next, the laryngoscope is lifted upwards towards the chest and away from the nose to bring the vocal cords into view. Often an assistant has to press on the trachea to provide a direct view of the larynx. Then takes the endotracheal tube, made of flexible plastic, in the right hand and starts inserting it through the mouth opening. The tube is inserted through the cords to the point that the cuff rests just below the cords. Finally, the cuff is inflated to provide a minimal leak when the bag is squeezed. Using a stethoscope, listens for breathing sounds to ensure correct placement of the tube.

I kept inserting into oesophagus at first, because the stomach was inflated when i squeezed the ambu bag. Both of the lungs would be inflated if we placed the tube in the right place. After lots of the Kungfu stunts(called by my groupmates due to my weird posture while i was doing the intubation), i managed to do it correctly. hehehe.... All of us enjoyed doing it as we did lots of times until the teacher said it was enough and ended the class. :P

The key points given by our teacher were:
1) Do it slowly and correctly.
2) Must place the larngoscope correctly and the epiglottis must be seen.
3) Look into the mouth opening without looking away while your assistant passing you the tube.

All of us enjoyed the class today as we learned something in practical, instead of just listening to the lectures. Hope we can have more practical classes! :)

Women's Day :)

Today is 8th of march, a public holiday over here in moscow in conjunction with Women's day worldwide. It's a gain for us as student, because we have a free day to sleep longer and relax.

I had a great time in women's day celebration downstairs in the study room of my hostel last night. We had a great MF combined meeting that shared about the mission trip experience to Henan, China and Medan, Indonesia. Before that, we had a wonderful time in playing games and experiencing God's presence in our praise and worship session. The highlight of that night was definitely the hot dance by Tze Fen, who danced sexily in front of all of us. it was really stunning as i saw lots of us stoned on the spot with dropping jaws before we laughed and shouted like banshees. nobody could expect the usually hardworking and tension tze fen would burst out her hidden energy last night.

after that we enjoyed our chicken rice, chocolate cakes and fruit juice that were all served by the guys. halfway through our fellowship with each other, all the ladies were entertained by the banana dance prepared by the guys for this special occasion. thank u guys.... before coming to the end, all of the ladies were given a rose respectively. obviously, lots of pictures were taken throughout the whole event until our pro photographer, Sim wanted to go crazy with the nonstop demands from everybody. thank God for bringing all of our new friends that we never thought of that joined us last night.

thank you sim, the pro photographer.

i went to church today. at first, i decided to go to ICF church in Arbatskaya with my friends. then i suddenly received a call, being asked to bring offering bags and ushers' scarfs to ICA as fast as possible before i went out from my hostel. end it up, MS and i managed to arrive there in 30 min by a cab. it was indeed a comfortable ride. i knew more about a Godly woman, Sarah from the sermon today. i will put her as a role model in the future.

thank God for all ur blessing upon me, esply my beloved family back home. Lord, continue to work in their life and keep them safe and healthy always...

God, continue to work in me too to love others as You've first loved me, a sinner.
